Op-shopping Adventures

Hello everyone!

Last weekend, I went op-shopping :)
All together, I bought 4 things. 2 dresses, a skirt and jeans
First of all I will tell you the story about the dresses and the skirt :)

Dress number 1. COST: $1
A long, true vintage style navy dress. I had planned to wear it to my grandparents 5o's themed birthday/anniversary party. I have such cool grandparents! :) But since then I have decided against it because I want to wear a more full-skirted dress. True 50's style. But not much loss, as the dress was only $1.
The photos have made the dress go an odd colour. It is more of a navy-blue colour.

Dress number 2. COST: $7

This one was a bit more expensive then the last, but it was still only $7 :) What I thought was amazing about this one is that I had seen this dress in DFO at Brisbane for about $50. I loved it but I didn't buy it because they didn't have my size. What luck? :) I'm not too sure about the yellow belt though!

Skirt number 1. COST: $2.50
Is this not the most hideous skirt you have seen in a while? Alright, so it is ok, but what were they thinking choosing those fabrics together? It's a french label too!
My friend had asked me if I could sew some pretty material together to make a bow headband for her. For $2.50, I thought the bottom fabric was pretty good and I might use the lace for something too :)

The story about the jeans will have to come another day! What I can tell you, is that I scored them for $7.

TOTAL ITEMS: 4
TOTAL COST FROM OP SHOPPING ADVENTURES: $17.50

Look what is coming for me in the mail from the lovely Sarah at The Forty Acre Wood I'm Pretty Excited :)

One day my photos will be of good quality...

Floral Pants

My first pair of floral pants. And the plus side? totally free. :)
My mum has been de-stashing her fabric cupboard for some time now and had this lovely floral fabric that she has had since the 90's. It was about 85cm long and the pattern (which my mum also had in the cupboard from the 90's) called for about 120cm. I managed to squeeze it in nicely though!

The biggest challenge for these ones would have to be the pockets! I have never added inside pockets before and the instructions were not that clear! After multiple unpickings (minimum of 10) I finally finished them. They sit pretty well too!

I don't know what to wear with them. I'm thinking alight denim jacket? What do you think?

Excuse my head being chopped off! :)

Changes

Hello everyone!

Today, the 26th March, 2011, brings changes :)
I have decide to focus this blog, not on my Etsy store but more on me. I know that most bloggers will make the change in the other direction but at the moment this is what feels right. :) I am only young so I prefer just writing about myself, rather than talking about my Etsy shop. I have come to realise that I just skip over posts that don't have pretty pictures, so I will try to keep my posts enjoyable with pictures taken or drawn by me! As well as my amateurish paintings, you should see photos of my sewing projects and crafts. :)

So I thought, to move things in that direction I would tell my lovely 10 followers more about myself. (Hopefully more people will follow in time, so I'm not just rambling to the same few) :)

1. My name is Olivia
2. I love to sew and I have sewn all my life.
3. I adore everything vintage. I have an old Olivetti typewriter perched on my desk (It works) and I would have a Polaroid camera too but film is just so darn expensive! My mum always says that I was born in the wrong generation. I suppose it's true!
4. I want to work at Disneyland in 2 years time.
5. I like to crochet and knit on the odd occasion, although I do feel like a grandma whilst I do. A stylish grandma at that. :)
6. My dad, being the wonderful tradesman he is, built me an A3 deckle. A frame to make paper, for those who aren't paper-making lingual :) So now my bath tub is filled with grey-ish pulp. No baths for a while I think!
7. I study Italian.

I also need a new name for my blog. Any suggestions? :)

oooo!

I have been very busy lately and I have not had much time to do craft! :)
Two things that I am very pleased with that I made are these:

I crocheted a little monster :) I got the pattern off the internet SOMEWHERE.... I LOVE HIM! :)

and I made this, which I have seen ones similar in lighting shops etc.
This one I DO know where I got the process from. here!

I think it turned out awesomely.... :)
What do you think?
Do you have any ideas for me to add to my Etsy store?

Sew or Crochet?

Okay, so I didn't get around to going to the store to buy some fabric for my skirt. :( I still was feeling creative though so I had to do SOMETHING!
I thought i would have a go at crocheting :)
I must say, I feel like a Grandma whilst I'm crocheting :)
I thought I would just start with something simple, and maybe move on to harder things later. I quite like them :)
